How we weigh sources

Every material claim on ApplianceEvidence is one of four kinds, and each page says which: product evidence, a compatibility statement, a manufacturer claim, or unknown. The kinds are never merged. A part that looks like it fits is not a compatibility statement, and a brand's performance wording is not a finding.
The four kinds of claim

| Product evidence | A record about this exact model and variant: its manual, specification sheet, a certification listing that names it, its retail listing's stated contents. | What the model is, what it includes, how it is specified. |
| Compatibility statement | The maker's, or the part's listing's, own statement that a part fits a model. | That fit, for the models named, and nothing wider. |
| Manufacturer claim | What a brand says about its product's performance. | Only that the brand says it; it is quoted and attributed. |
| Unknown | Anything no source we read settles. | Nothing. It is shown as unknown, never as compatible and never as zero cost. |
What we never do
- Test appliances, or present a score or rating as a measurement.
- Treat motor wattage or capacity as proof of speed, results or durability.
- Carry a fit or a specification from one model, size or generation over to another.
- Count something that is already in the box as an extra cost.
Dates
Each comparison shows the date its facts were last checked. That date changes only when the sources are re-read; a change to the page's layout does not move it.
